The National Association of Black Accountants, Inc. (NABA) is proud to announce that scholarships are available through selected chapters for current high school seniors, undergraduate students or students enrolled in a five-year accounting program.

NABA is a national organization established in 1969 whose primary purpose is to develop, encourage and serve as a resource for African-American and other minorities in the accounting and finance profession. Our mission is to address the professional needs which enable minorities to maximize their career potential.

NABA is dedicated to helping minority students succeed in their educational endeavors. Some questions and answers about the NABA scholarships are as follows:


QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  1. Who can apply for NABA’s scholarships?

    Applicants must be an ethnic minority. The applicant may be a high school senior who will enroll as a full-time undergraduate student in the current academic year. The applicant can also currently be a full-time undergraduate student or full-time student enrolled in a five year program for the next academic year.

    All applicants must declare a major in the field of business, which includes accounting, marketing, economics, or any field under the school of business. Applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 for the scholarship award.

  2. How do I apply for the scholarship?

    All scholarships must be applied for through local chapters offering the scholarships. Each chapter will require a scholarship application along with an essay. In addition, you will have to submit an official transcript from the registrar which indicates your current grade point average; a current resume’ (required for college applicants, optional for high school applicants); and, a completed copy of your official financial aid transcript, the Student Aid Report, OR your parent’s or legal guardian’s previous year federal tax return.   3. How are applicants selected to receive the scholarship?

    All applications will be reviewed by the local chapter's scholarship panel. Scores will be based on neatness of applications, composition of essay, grade point average, financial need, and extracurricular activities. High scores from the initial process will be invited for an interview with the scholarship panel. The combined interview and application scores will determine scholarship recipients.

  4. What will happen during the interview?

    The selected scholarship applicant will meet with a small panel and will be asked a series of thought provoking questions regarding goals, objectives, and views.

  5. How will I be notified if I am selected as a scholarship recipient?
    All selected scholarship recipients will be notified by telephone and/or formal letter from the scholarship committee. After notification, NABA will host a special event honoring all scholarship recipients. The scholarship money will be awarded at a later date, after proof of full-time enrollment for the period(s) covered by the award is received by the award committee.
